A library located at Tøyen Square in ‘Gamle Oslo’ is upgrading an entire district after removal of a museum. Biblo Tøyen Youth Library is based on targeting exclusively children between the ages of 10 to 15. This concept is novel for Tøyen, for Oslo and even for Norway. The concept was brought to life by international creative guide and architect Aat Vos (includi) in collaboration with an architectural psychologist and a crew of skilled set-builders. This atypical culture house speaks to this young target audience through many ways that include shapes, colors and props.

The children’s library experience is enriched by inspiring them and inviting them to read, play, interact and discover. Understanding the needs of this target group is essential; young minds tend to wander and love looking for clues. Interior design was the tool used to meet these needs, with psychology as the foundation. [Read more via the downloadable below]
