Who entertains, remains
Along with the rich spectrum of social experiences, the upgraded Furuset House – a library and activity center – was going to implement Deichman’s Meråpent, meaning an increase in opening hours by allowing patrons to use the library throughout the day even without staff present. The Deichman motto had to be kept in mind: “Hold Deg Våken! Keep yourself awake!” With our design, we had to offer people alternative and entertaining reasons to stay in the building, next to the traditional library function.
Spaces for all ages
From meetings to gaming
An array of opportunities
A library that offers meeting tables and a cafeteria is already giving you two potential extra reasons to stay, but why not also include football and billiard tables? We did! This array of activities and opportunities managed to balance opportunities for education, business and play all in one location. Our library interior design now offers various groups of visitors the chance to choose between withdrawing to enjoy a book or interacting with others.
A cultural hotspot
Both children and adults can choose between areas they feel cozy and comfortable in or find plenty of opportunities to experience and interact. By creating space for meetings, gathering together, gaming and events, this living room is inviting to all. In the end, we created something different with the tool of interior design. Furuset House is now a library that dares to stray far away from the classic white-walled environment. Instead, this vibrant place demands to be enjoyed longer than planned. It’s a home away from home, an inclusive cultural hotspot in an Oslo suburb.
